Sermons: General

Sermons on General Topics and Scripture from Mercy Seat Christian Church.

Galatians 1:1-9 A Dire Situation. The book of Galatians is known as the Magna Carta of Christian liberty. By that, we mean liberty in the true sense of the word – freedom to meet with God not on the basis of any of our doings – but solely upon His grace and mercy which are found in Christ our Lord – AND liberty, not in the sense that you get to live however you want – but liberty to live in accordance with God’s law and word; liberty to live in obedience to Him. As we will see, Paul uses strong, severe words right from the beginning of this book to try and help the Galatians see just how dire their situation is because of their embracing the Judaizer’s false teaching.  Click here to listen to ta 33 minute sermon by Pastor Matthew Trewhella entitled Galatians 1:1-9 A Dire Situation.

Proverbs: The Pursuit of Wisdom. This sermon is loaded with insight and practical application of Christian living in the midst of a rebellious nation.  Click here to listen to the 72 minute sermon by Jason Storms entitled Proverbs: The Pursuit of Wisdom.

Ephesians 1:1-14. This sermon is the first in a series of expositional preaching through the book of Ephesians, examining Paul’s epistle verse by verse. Click here to listen to the 52 minute sermon by Pastor Matt Trewhella entitled Ephesians 1:1-14.

Are We Supposed to Forgive Everyone? Many Christians believe they are obligated to forgive everyone. Is this teaching found in the Bible? What does Jesus actually say about dealing with a brother who sins against you? Jason Storms looks at these questions and answers them from scripture in this 32 minute sermon.
