Election Sermon: The Duty of Lower Magistrates in the Face of Tyranny
Election sermons were common in early America. During the first 100 years of our nation, many pastors preached every year what became known as “election” and “artillery” sermons. The pulpits were the historical means whereby the people were instructed – from a theological foundation – in the purpose, functions, and limitations of the State. This sermon was preached in the capitol rotunda in Helena, Montana on January 4th, 2015. Click here to listen to a 43 minute sermon by Pastor Matthew Trewhella entitled Election Sermon: The Duty of Lower Magistrates in the Face of Tyranny.

The Laws of a Nation Should Mirror the Law and Justice of God. This sermon demonstrates from Scripture that good laws which affirm or mirror the law and justice of God help men to see their need for Christ. But bad laws which contravene and spurn the law and justice of God help men to justify their sin. Hence, the laws of a nation go to the very salvation of men’s souls. Click here to listen to a 39 minute sermon by Pastor Matthew Trewhella entitled The Laws of a Nation Should Mirror the Law and Justice of God.

A Response to the Obergefell Opinion. This sermon was preached in response to the June 26th, 2015, opinion by the Supreme Court regarding homosex marriage. The sermon responds to the opinion and offers guidance to Christians both corporately and individually as to how to respond and what can be done. Insightful. Click here to listen to the 72 minute sermon by Pastor Matthew Trewhella entitled A Response to the Obergefell Opinion.

Christians are the Best of Citizens – Titus 3:1-2. This sermon demonstrates why Christians are the best of citizens in any nation, and that Christians have allegiance to Christ first, therefore when the State makes unjust, tyrannical decrees, Christians resist the State because of their allegiance to Christ, thus benefitting the rest of the nation.  Click here to listen to the 72 minute sermon by Jason Storms entitled Christians are the Best of Citizens – Titus 3:1-2.
